NOT GONE TOO FAR
A line of lies from the darkness
Is there a voice telling you you've gone too far to be restored?
You feel too filthy to be washed.
Your sins are the greatest, you can't amount to anything.
Is there a voice telling you that redemption isn't for you?
That you don't matter, that you're just a shame.
That you carry so many scars doesn't mean you're marred.
It's simply a testament to your battles and your victory.
Don't be deceived, that voice is definitely not from your Father.
That's the accuser of men, with all his lies.
The Father I know, the One who has deposited so much in you, would never say such things.
He who forms does not destroy. That's clearly not my Abba.
Are you stuck between the voice pulling you down and the hands reaching out to you?
He doesn't care what you think your life has become. All that matters to Him is that you're here.
Don't make the mistake of thinking otherwise, He is always with you.
But you won't realize this until you take hold of those hands reaching for you.
Who else would He have died for, if not you?
A healthy person doesn't need a doctor. You know you're exactly who He came for.
Not by your definition of righteousness, but by His own terms.
You are the very one He's been searching for. You wouldn't believe me if I told you how long He's been looking out for you.
What you are in this moment does not define what the Lord has called you.
He holds your true, original self with Him.
You are not any of the names that thing may have called you.
In fact, none of it exists in God's kingdom.
You are your Father's child. Ọmọ baba ni e.
Do you think He might be tired of you running to Him, only to get yourself stained again?
Don't worry about that. Leave it to Him. He's going to handle that.
It's time to come to the Father through Jesus the Son.
He is waiting patiently for you. He has not given up on you yet. And He never will.
Don't feel you're too dirty for God. There's a reason He's called the God of all flesh.
So don't stay stranded any longer. Come home. Come back to your source.
Just like the prodigal son, He does not reject. He embraces.
His mercy endures. He is waiting for no one but you.
You are what the Lord has called you, not what the world or anyone else says.
You are chosen. You are not forsaken. Not alone. Not stranded. You are full of help.
You are not too far to be reached. You are loved.
As you read this, I'd love for you to press play on Lauren Daigle's "You Say." It captures exactly what this piece is about — remembering whose voice truly defines us.
