My love story; Not your regular kind of love

Image
From the umbilical cord that wraps around a foetus inside the womb to the cradle where an infant sleeps, and all the way through the teenage years and beyond, a mother’s sacrifices cannot be measured. This love goes far deeper than romantic feelings; it is unconditional, special, and unwavering. It is love rooted so deeply it cannot be severed, even amidst chaos and uncertainty. To the woman who gave her body willingly to house another life without charge, who stood as watchful eyes through countless sleepless nights, nothing compares to a mother’s love that naturally overflows. Through birth complications, postpartum depression, and the overwhelming challenges that life throws her way, she presses on as if nothing has happened. This is a testament to a mental strength beyond measure, speaking louder than any clamor or boast. Have you ever imagined how thick the bond is? Like the clouds piled high in the sky, or the depth of a child’s love for their mother? It goes beyond science or bi...

NOT GONE TOO FAR

Image
A line of lies from the darkness  Is there a voice telling you you've gone too far to be restored? You feel too filthy to be washed. Your sins are the greatest, you can't amount to anything. Is there a voice telling you that redemption isn't for you? That you don't matter, that you're just a shame. That you carry so many scars doesn't mean you're marred. It's simply a testament to your battles and your victory. Don't be deceived, that voice is definitely not from your Father. That's the accuser of men, with all his lies. The Father I know, the One who has deposited so much in you, would never say such things. He who forms does not destroy. That's clearly not my Abba. Are you stuck between the voice pulling you down and the hands reaching out to you? He doesn't care what you think your life has become. All that matters to Him is that you're here. Don't make the mistake of thinking otherwise, He is always with you. But you won'...

THE LIFE IN A FLESH CALLED TONGUE

Image
People talk, yes, it feels good. Voices echo in rooms full of diverse conversations. Yours couldn't be found, you were missing. At least, you probably didn't miss out. FOMO couldn't have happened to you. You didn't try to be the last one in the clique. Tongues lash at you for your silence. Your absence could get you dismissed by a group of people with no defined identity. So you decided to join the club, since you couldn't beat them, tired of sitting on the fence. You might take a bad fall in the end. But a life has dropped dead, just from a shot fired by your mouth. And to think, those were the ones you called friends. Your chosen caucus. Those with profane words, concocted speeches. Those whose mouths move without direction. No sentence from them ever builds anything. Always found pulling down lives like a bulldozer clearing ground. They aren't bad people, but the words from their lips aren't good either. No edification, only gossip: left, right, center,...

What does the modern world reward and what does it ignore?

Image
What is wrong? What's the noise all about?Isn't that a mayhem?  What could have caused it? No one could say. They say it's taking away our values and responsibilities. In fact, they said it's a fluke and it will wear away just like the waves of the sea on the shore. Some said it felt like they're walking on a bed of roses and they feel eased. Isn't this a dilemma? How can one thing be this good and this wrong at the same time?. So what exactly is the bone of contention? Or should I say we've been eaten deep by our primitive ways and we find it difficult to adapt to what the modern world is bringing to our doors? But what could be ‘modern’? Are you trying to call us old fashioned? No we are not. We are inventors of greatness and there's nothing to compete with our creativity. Of course not. We are original. Oh then I realize what the fuss is all about. Isn't that what they call 'civilisation'? No, they said they are already in vogue and trendi...

Is It for Nothing? What to Do When Purity Feels Like a Losing Bet

Image
Is it for nothing, then, that I have kept myself pure? Psalm 73:13 You've kept yourself. You've obeyed the Lord. You never went against morality. At a point, your consecration became irritating to the perverted, who kept snuggling their noses behind you, always calling you the goody two shoes. But here you are, like dry and thirsty land, while they blossom like watered ground. It's as if their bad ways keep them flourishing. And you can't stop asking, "Well, is it in vain that I've kept myself pure?" Reading through the book of Psalms in June, I came across this verse, and it went straight to my heart. You know that feeling when something exposes you, when you see yourself in it without any filter, and it captures exactly what you're going through. This verse made me relate so deeply. I felt the pain Asaph carried while writing that chapter. I can imagine how weary he'd grown from waiting on God, only to watch his enemies, people with crooked way...

PARENTING MANUAL

Image
It's so obvious there's no manual for parenting. All parents can do is give their best effort in training their kids to be culturally, socially, academically, and morally sound. However, this journey is deeply attached to emotions, the vulnerable part of most humans (emotions take the best of us, they say). Child care requires a real sense of responsibility, because I've always believed it takes more than being a sperm donor or egg giver to become a good parent. Responsibility is what makes one a good parent. This part of life isn't a bed of roses, especially when it comes to the place of discipline. Child indiscipline has become a major, controversial issue in the world, as most vices are traced back to a lack of proper training. This makes society believe parents have failed in this part of their duty. Yet some are still striving to write the best manual for raising children right. Family is considered the bedrock of all opportunities and threats, but not everyone is ...

Every Man for Himself, God for All: The Lonely Side of Growth.

Image
(The Seasons No One Can Walk With You) Your joy is your own. Your bitterness is your own. No one can truly share either with you. This rests on that popular saying: "every man for himself, but God for all." Do you get it now? Think about those moments when you're so downcast that you reach out to people, explain yourself, hoping for empathy, some sign that they truly understand what you're going through. Yet nothing comes. I believe the word of God doesn't lie: your joy is yours alone, and your pain is equally yours alone. That's how the world runs. Remember Job and his three friends, the so-called comforters. They tried, in their own way, to commiserate with him over the tragedy that befell him. Yet they failed. They mocked him instead, accused him of self righteousness, even blamed him for his own suffering, convinced he must have sinned. These were the words of people who came to console but couldn't. Why? Because they weren't the ones affected. No...
